The Real Bug in the Computer? It Was a Moth! šŸ›šŸ’»

Have you ever heard someone say, ā€œThere’s a bug in the codeā€? You might think it means a mistake in the program—but did you know the first ā€œcomputer bugā€ was an actual insect?

Back in 1947, a scientist working on a huge computer noticed something was wrong. The machine had stopped working, and no one could figure out why. When they opened it up, they discovered the problem: a real moth had flown inside and gotten stuck! It blocked the flow of electricity, like a tiny traffic jam in the wires.

The scientist, Grace Hopper, taped the moth into her notebook and wrote ā€œFirst actual case of bug being found.ā€ That’s how we got the tech term ā€œbugā€ we still use today when something goes wrong in a program!
